Summer Fun

Sitting at Sara and Brian's listening to the Minnesota summer wind blow.  Kansas has nothing on Minnesota winds.  The wind blew all the heat and humidity away tho so everyone here is thankful . I guess last week here was miserable just like Illinois was. Had a fun picnic of hamburgers, potato salad, corn on the cob, and baked beans out side, then came inside for fresh strawberry pie.  Not bad aye?  Last night we ate at a Godfather's Pizza and then watched the movie "New in Town" about a single girl moving to a Minnesota  town.  We laughed and laughed at the silly similarities to Sara moving to Hollandale. They are having a new septic system put in so there is no drain in the kitchen sink.  we are washing dishes in the basement laundry room.  We are mostly using paper plate.  Sara made monkey bread for breakfast.  Tomorrow we head for Kansas to help the family out there.  So glad we got to see Sara's new house.

Shower's Done

The shower went beautifully.got the house all clean in time for company. Jean(Rich's sister) and Sara came in on Wednesday, Brian on Friday afternoon and Brians folks were here for supper on Sat night at  5:30 after we got home form Sarah Schaap's wedding reception at 4:30.  It was a crazy week but all went very well.  should down load some pictures but I think you can see some of them on Sara's Facebook so I'd better find out what is there first.  Now it's back to grading some really awful tests.  ( almost all partials  ( F's) ) and trying to keep the things we got clean , clean. : )!  Rich has worked 3 12 hour days so far this week. poor guy, will be too tired to move before long.Ethan worked a 12 hour day on Sat.Got up a 3:30.  should feel like Harlan one of these days.  Not long before Abbie and Hannah start their big adventures.  We're thinking about you guys and praying for you.

Too Tired to Play

The boys all left for the Tiger Tamer games(  matches between the eighth grade girls and their moms and the eighth grade  boys and their dads.  Its an annual thing and there are awards afterwards for the athletes.  Rich is so looking forward to when John is an eighth grader next year !  I should  have gone but worked at the Thrift store today and Im so tired I was in no mood for sitting on hard bleachers watching kids play that I dont know that well anyway. Thought Id veg in front of the computer for a while and then go grade some of the 20 tests I picked up today.  was supposed to be 25 but when I saw only 20 I didnt complain cuz I had thrift store, the game and then special olympics swimming for Daniel all day tomorrow.  Now Rich is nt working so he can bring Daniel to swimming and Im not going to the game so I might have had a chance to grade more but Im not sad.  I feel like doing nothing for awhile.  No fun stories to tell.  Just writing so you guys will write again and I will have fun things to read when I go to my computer

Im still alive.  Had jury duty yesterday and had to teach today plus have 40 tests to grade. would be in bed right now but we are waiting for Ethan to come home.  went to a movie with friends.  he must be forgetting the 10 o clock curfew in Illinois for 16 year olds on a school night and the fact that a 16 year old is only allowed to have one other non family member as a passenger in a car. anyway our curiosity as to what is happening is keeping us up.  I think I hear him coming.  Must not have gotten arrested.  Lack of comments on my blogs has stifled my motivation for writing.  Guess Im just an attention hog.  any way thanks Beth for writing. I'll have to find more friends.  good night.

No TESTS!

Wow ! the busyness of December is done.  There were no tests when I brought mine in this morning.  Coffee Break does start again tomorrow but I have my lesson ready already and Im working on the wash so I can write something on this.  This week is one soccer game and two basketball games, one of which Im the driver for, and and an Elim dinner I have to make rolls for.  Not bad.  Guess I should catch up on the Saturday jobs that I didnt do.  I think my life was more boring than Beths.  I only had to change the  furnace filter.  Ethan did it.  No blood involved. : ).The boys took the Christmas tree down Monday and we actually had our big social event for 2007 and 2008 all in one.  Had 3 couples over after the New Year's Eve service and had snacks and played games until 1 o'clock.  Played Apples to Apples and Settlers of Kattan (sp.?)   It's a Monopoly sort of game that could have gone on hours longer so we finally quit at 1.  Since it went from one year to the other , we figure that will count as our social event for both years.  : ).  Any way that got the house all in order and it stayed pretty good all week in spite of having all the boys home.  John worked on a science project and Ethan on his big Bible term paper.  We went out to McDonald's  for lunch with some gift certificates the boys got on Friday and I took the boys a half hour away to some old neighbors that moved away.  I only had to grade about 40 tests all week.  Real Christmas vacation. Now it continues with none to grade.  See Beth my life is more boring than yours.  Looking for those name signings. :)
